1. AMBER MARK

In 3 words: Multifaceted. Mysterious. Sophisticated.
Genre: Pop
Who inspires her: “My mother definitely plays a big role in my life and in my work. The majority of what I've created has to do with her passing and how I dealt with losing the most important person in my life. It's almost an ode to her. My childhood years spent in India has also greatly influenced the sounds I incorporate into my work. This diverse culture opened my mind and ears to a whole new world of music. I like to say it's where my love affair with sound began.”
Standout Lyric: “Heat Wave / Hiding / In The Flame / Heat Wave / Summer Everyday” – HEAT WAVE

2. CHELSEA CUTLER

In 3 Words: Raw. Brilliant. Captivating.
Genre: Pop
Fun Fact: Considering how much raw talent she possesses, it's surprising to hear the 21-year-old admit she never intended to make a career out of playing music. Cutler learned guitar and piano when she was young and later, like so many hopeful independent artists, began posting covers on SoundCloud. After tackling the work of everyone from Odesza and the Chainsmokers to Jack Johnson and The Tallest Man on Earth in her repertoire, Cutler's own unique blend of electronic and acoustic sounds rapidly took shape.
Standout Lyric: “I wear my heart upon my sleeves, I never can / Figure out what you want me to do instead / You said you felt something inside, I understand / If I've been moving you in ways that you won't bend” – You Don’t Miss Me

3. HOBO JOHNSON

In 3 Words: Blunt. Cool. Inescapable.
Genre: Hip-hop, slam poetry
Fun Fact: His album The Rise of Hobo Johnson (2017) explores his relationship with his parents, his past relationships that went wrong, and his hustle to become a successful artist regardless of obstacles. He is articulate, his music is interesting, and he doesn’t follow the rules of what we think a song should sound like. He wants to create songs while being unapologetically himself and I think that’s something to admire. He is an extremely unique artist with an introspective view of life.
“The way I listen to music is... like medicine... it makes me feel better about my life and… my dream is to do that for other people… you know, travel the world doing that and helping people like so many people helped me.”
Standout Lyric: “Hi. What's your name? How are you? How’s your life? Oh, you got a man? Are you in love? If so, what type? Is it just platonic, strictly just as friends / Or the type that ties you two together 'til tomorrow’s end? / If it is, disregard every time I call you pretty / Though it’s meant sincerely, it’s just my imagination drifting / Brush me off like the dirt on Jay-Z’s shoulders / So I fall to ground, collect myself and get ready to take over your heart / Or at least your spare time” – Peach Scone

4. MATTHEW CHAIM

In 3 words: Deep. Passionate. Brilliant.
Genre: Pop
Fun Fact about his hit song FOCUS: “This song came from a place of self-motivation. I went into it with the intention of writing something super light and vibey. What came out was this sort of pep talk to myself… telling myself that I need to focus, and shove all my attention into music. And I think it’s working. Less than a month after writing Focus, I quit my full-time job and went all in.”
Standout Lyric: “Ima make use outta my fleeting youth / Gonna write songs and sing for free / Until they pay me a handsome fee / Don’t see day night or afternoons / My bio depends on you / Lying if I say I see any other way-ay-ay / Don't know how I’m doing but I hope I do OK-ay-ay” – Passion Soda

5. THUTMOSE

In 3 Words: Articulate. Focused. Energized.
Genre: Hip-hop, rap
Fun Fact: Born in Nigeria and raised in Brooklyn young versatile rapper Thutmose is back after radio silence with a short but cool freestyle on Kendrick Lamar‘s HUMBLE. At 22, Thutmose is definitely an artist to watch and his come back speaks for itself. His HUMBLE freestyle got over a million views in only a week.
Standout Lyric: “You just want somebody you can blame / One too many times, had to learn from my mistakes / Took my heart now look at what remains / One too many times, had to learn from my mistakes” - BLAME
