Ottawa Jazz Festival 2018 | Stingray Rising Stars

On a record-breakingly hot Canada Day, Stingray Music visited the nation’s capital again this year to attend the 2018 TD Ottawa Jazz Festival. We were welcomed with incredible music, yummy food, and the chance to provide 3 bursaries to deserving new talent.

Stingray Music is proud to renew its longstanding partnership with the TD Jazz Youth Summit. The TD Jazz Youth Summit is a program run by the TD Ottawa Jazz Festival that brings together the top young musicians from across the nation. Taking place during the festival, it provides young Canadian musicians a rare platform to develop their big band experience by working with internationally acclaimed musicians and clinicians, culminating in two performances on the Main Stage.

The winners of this year's Stingray Rising Stars Awards are :

Tristan Martinuson (Tenor Sax./ Soprano Sax): $3,000, first place, with Zac Monson (Stingray Music):

Jiaqi (Jenny) Xu (Piano): $1,000, second place, with Zac Monson (Stingray Music):

David Rourke (Guitar): $1,000, second place, with Zac Monson (Stingray Music):
