Pedaling towards hope: our journey at the Make-a-Wish 48H Bike Ride
This year, Stingray soared to new heights of compassion and community spirit as we eagerly participated in the life changing Make-a-Wish 48H Bike Ride. Not just a mere bike ride; this event is an extraordinary mission that touches the hearts of countless children battling critical illnesses, granting them the precious gift of hope and joy.
Our dedicated teams, led by the enthusiastic Philippe Barsi and Gabriel Genest, embarked on this journey with determination and a shared goal. Their tireless efforts and the generous contributions from our Stingray family resulted in an impressive fundraising total of $13,799!
The event was a testament to our commitment to community outreach and a wonderful opportunity for team bonding. The preparation for the ride, cheering each other on, and the shared sense of accomplishment afterward all contributed to an enriching employee experience.
We are incredibly proud of our teams and grateful to everyone who supported this cause; their contributions have made a significant difference in the lives of many children.
We’ve asked our team leaders, Philippe Barsi and Gabriel Genest, to share insights about their inspiring experiences.
Can you share your motivation for participating in the Make-a-Wish 48H bike ride?
Philippe: "I was very motivated to take part in the Make-a-Wish 48H bike race for several reasons. Firstly, I love cycling. Secondly, the cause supported by this event, which is to grant the wishes of sick children, is particularly close to my heart. I firmly believe that every child deserves to experience moments of joy and hope, and if my participation can contribute to that, then I will have achieved my goal.
Finally, I'm motivated by the physical challenge of a 48-hour race. It's an opportunity for me to surpass myself and show that when we're determined, we can achieve great things.
All in all, my participation in the Make-a-Wish 48H bike race is motivated by my passion for cycling, my desire to contribute to a noble cause, and my taste for a challenge."
How did the Stingray team prepare for the event, and how did this impact team bonding and employee experience?
Gabriel: "Preparation for a 48-hour bike race is usually intensive and requires team planning and coordination.
In terms of the impact on team cohesion and employee experience, taking part in an event like this can have several benefits. It can reinforce team spirit, as members have to work together to achieve a common goal. It can also improve communication and collaboration between team members. Finally, it can be a rewarding experience for employees, who have the opportunity to contribute to a worthy cause while challenging themselves physically."
What were some of the most memorable moments from the event?
Gabriel: "I enjoyed riding as part of a team as much as the experience of riding alone at night."
Philippe: "Beyond the race, the experience itself is pretty memorable. We were lucky enough to have a Stingray DJ who mixed non-stop for 48 hours! The companies around us danced all weekend to our music!"
How did it feel to exceed your fundraising goal and know that you're making a significant contribution to children with critical illnesses?
Philippe: "When a team exceeds its fundraising target, especially for a cause as noble as Make-a-Wish, the feelings of joy and pride are great. It's a significant achievement that shows not only the effort and dedication of the team but also the support and generosity of those who have donated. It can also give a sense of optimism and hope, knowing that the money raised will help make a positive difference in the lives of sick children."
What would you say to other Stingray employees considering participating in future charity events?
Gabriel: "Preparing for the race is a great way to build team cohesion, endurance, and strength. And on race day, the excitement and energy are palpable.
But perhaps the most rewarding moment is when you realize the impact of your participation. Knowing that you've helped make the wishes of sick children come true is a feeling like no other."
Philippe: "If you're thinking of taking part, I'd say without hesitation: go for it! It's an experience you won't soon forget, and one that will bring you a great deal of satisfaction."
