We are excited to announce that our guest curator this September will be the one and only – Diana Ross!
The Goddess of Motown Records with eighteen no. 1 hits, spanning from her days with the Supremes to her solo career. Nominated for an Academy Award the role of Billie Holiday in ‘Lady Sings the Blues’ (1972). Named the “female entertainer of the century” in 1976 by Billboard magazine. Titled "the most successful female music artist in history" in the 1993 Guinness Book of World Records. Rewarded not one but two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. It’s safe to say that Diana Ross is one of the most influential figures in pop music. And she even has a playground named after her in New York’s Central Park!
With her latest single “Thank You”, Diana Ross sets out to thank her fans for their support throughout her long career. Her newest album, coming out this September, promises to be brimming with gratitude and appreciation of her family of followers. Although, one may argue, that we should be thanking her for her legacy and impressive story.
A believer in the power of realistically positive thinking, she’s a wonderful role model in these trying times. In a 1975 interview on The Russel Harty Show, Ms. Ross speaks about her future with optimism. She expresses a desire accomplish a lot in her career and have a successful family life. When asked whether she worries about accidents or the unforeseen twists of life, her response is simple yet very true. She replies that for every positive thought she has, a negative one inevitably jumps out, but she consciously concentrates her energy on working toward the positive one. The years that have passed since the interview are a testament to the veracity of her words.
In these uncertain times Diana Ross’s perseverance and strength are all the more admirable and inspiring. We promise that her persona will shine through her curatorship and encourage you to laugh a little more, love a little more and be ready to take life head on.
